"I was born and raised in Selma, Alabama. Since I was a little girl, I've always had a passion for drawing and creating art. I competed in local art contests, attended after-school art programs regularly, and I used to always create crafts and paintings in school, like for backdrops for school plays or in my art class. It wasn't until my junior year in high school where I established another elite passion---Interior Design. I always loved watching HGTV. Seeing them transform ordinary homes into something so ecstatic and beautiful always intrigued me. My mom (R.I.H) was also my biggest influence with design growing up. She always made frequent trips to furniture and thrift stores, rearranging furniture in our home--those were some of my best moments with her growing up in the country. Being influenced by her, I also re-decorated my bedroom constantly by making homemade décor out of anything I had access to at the time--from construction paper and cardboard boxes to making my own curtains out of leftover fabric my mom passed down to me. I've always had an eye for creativity and color.
After graduating high school, I attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL (Roll Tide!). While there, I double-majored in both Interior Design & Studio Art and obtained my Bachelor's. In my first design class, I was immediately introduced to sketching o floor plans and picking out textiles. In design, I have become very skillful in hand renderings, constructing CAD plans, Adobe Photoshop, as well as making 3D architectural models in SketchUp. Additionally, I consider myself as an expressive, Contemporary artist where I am skilled in working with numerous mediums such as charcoal, pencil and pen, acrylic, ink, gouache, watercolors, and mixed-media. My favorite is producing pen illustrations and acrylic.
Being able to create custom artwork and design spaces that enhance the human experience and interaction are my biggest initiatives in every project I start. I believe I share the responsibility to protect the overall safety of my clients and still design gorgeous spaces in the Southeast that will be trending years from now.
In my free time, I enjoy sketching, watching HGTV, traveling, going to the park, reading a new book, going to the gym, cooking, playing video games, volunteering, and hanging with friends.
I couldn't be any more grateful for the continuous support of S.D.Designs and ecstatic to see what my future beholds. Be blessed everyone!
